About Fit For Alaska

Fit For Alaska is a comprehensive fitness program specifically designed for the big game hunter.  Each of the key elements of fitness – mobility, stability, strength, and endurance – are addressed in a progressive series of workouts so whether you have been sitting behind a desk for a decade or more, or are active and in already in good shape, Fit For Alaska targets muscle groups that are usually ignored, but are of vital importance in rugged outdoor environments.  “Instructional” videos provide the tools necessary to learn the movements and how to execute them properly.  Once you have mastered the movements, use the “Advanced” versions take you on a narrated odyssey of thrilling hunts and stunning Alaska scenery that will keep you motivated.

 

Points to Remember: 

·      Fit for Alaska is not about “getting there” in record time….it is about “getting there”

·       This program will help you physically feel the same at day ten as you did at day one.

·      The Instructional videos are designed to both teach the movements and explain their impact in the field.  We highly recommend that you spend the time necessary to learn the movements.

·      Take your time to learn from the “Instructional” videos; it is OK if when you start it takes more than 1 hour to complete it….the pace of your workout and time to complete them will improve as you learn.

·      When your time to complete an Instructional workout gets to less than one hour, you are ready for the Advanced versions.

·      The “Advanced” versions will transform your workout into a “participation” experience while you prepare for your hunt.

·      This Program includes you hiking during each week.  Trails with changes in elevation are better than flat sidewalks, but putting in the time on the surfaces you have available is the most important.

 

How to Use this Program

 9-12 Months From Your Hunt

·      Work out 1.  Time goal 45 minutes to complete

·      Two hours per week Fit for Alaska, with 1-2 days in between

·      10-12 miles hiking, no pack, 5 days/week (2 miles each day)

 

9-6 Months From Your Hunt

·      Work out 2.  Time goal 45 minutes to complete

·      Two hours per week Fit for Alaska, with 1-2 days in between

10-12 miles hiking, no pack, 5 days/week (2 miles each day)          

 

6-3 Months From Your Hunt

·      Work out 1.  Time goal 45 minutes to complete

·      Two hours per week Fit for Alaska, with 1-2 days in between

3-12 miles hiking, no pack, 5 days/week (2 miles each day)

 

3 Months-HUNT

·      Work out 1.  Time goal 45 minutes to complete

·      Two hours per week Fit for Alaska, with 1-2 days in between

10-12 miles hiking, no pack, 5 days/week (2 miles each day)
